An excellent vintage from Cockburn rated 95 points by the world's top wine critic.
"Potentially one of the most compelling wines of the vintage, this inky black/purple-colored 2000 exhibits notes of scorched earth, melted asphalt, blackberry liqueur, and a pungent, penetrating intensity that reverberates in the mouth as well as the head. Full-bodied, massive, and concentrated, with a 45-second finish, this thrilling effort should drink well between 2010-2035." 95/100 points. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

Lot 1006 - Tenuta di Capezzana Carmignano “Villa di Capezzana” 1997
(6) 750ml Villa di Capezzana Carmignano, 1997
A six bottle lot from what most experts consider the greatest vintage ever in Italy, 1997. Drinking perfectly today-through 2010.
Similar to the greater region of Tuscany, the town of Carmignano is an area rich in history. Carmignano was one of the first "Comuni" in Tuscany for the production of wine and Etruscan wine pitchers found in the area show that Carmignano had land under vine over 3,000 years ago. Some names of Tuscan wineries today can be traced to lands awarded to Roman war veterans, and the name Capezzana is thought to come from "Capitus," one such veteran.
For the 1997 Villa di Capezzana Carmignano, the grapes come from hilly vineyards with a south/southwest exposure of clay schist soils at an elevation of 150-200 meters. The wine, composed of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Cabernet Sangiovese.
It has lush blackberry and dark plum aromas, informed by mineral, sage, herbal, spice and blood notes. In the mouth, the wine is absolutely brimming with juicy, ripe, tart berries and the wine?s acidity adeptly integrates the tannins and alcohol. This wine has an obviously large structure and heft: it’s no lightweight Tuscan red. All the more reason to pair this wine with grilled or roasted red and white meats, as well as strong cheeses. 91 points Wine Enthusiast Magazine.
“This excellent wine is a relatively good value for the quality. Intense aromas of berry, spice and pepper follow through to a full-bodied palate, with silky tannins and a rich finish. Best after 2004. 5,800 cases made.” 91 points Wine Spectator 91.

Lot 1015 - Iron Horse Pinot Noir 2003 Etched Bottle in Rare 3-Liter Format
Limited production less than 60 bottles were specially produced for chartable events.
This etched, 3-liter bottle is drinking perfectly through 2013.
Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines, Feb 06:
There is plenty to like about its bright, cherry-and-vanilla nose, but brightness becomes thinness as the wine crosses the palate, and a touch of green apples serves as a curious counterpoint to its slightly narrow flavors of ripe cherries. A touch of heat peeks through at the firm finish, but a year or two of bottle age should help soften things here.

Lot 1024 Millennium Madness
Two fine examples of California Cabernet and Merlot from the 1998 and 1999 vintages produced by winemaker Tom Burgess.
(1) 1.5-Liter Burgess Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon, 1998
(1) 1.5-Liter Burgess Cellars Merlot, 1999
The Cabernet wine has a complex concentration of Cabernet, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc Flavors and aromas. There is a generous oak background and every aspect comes together in a long lingering finish. Enjoy with steaks, roasts or hearty cheeses.
9% Cabernet Franc; 8% Merlot. Here fruit would seem to have more room to roam than in the previous wine due both to less of an oaky impact as well as to the wine's somewhat less stiff structure. A few years in bottle may help a bit.
The 1999 Merlot shows depth, with tangy blackberry notes, anise and plum flavors and lots of smoky oak. Needs time to soften and come together.
There a notable earthy, herbal-minty component to the moderately ripe cherry and plum flavors. Good balance, not too tannic, finishing with a dry edge.

Lot 10 - Château Lafleur, 1985 750ml Bottle
An extraordinary example of one of the Right Bank's finest Bordeaux.
Wine Advocate #88 (Aug 1993) Robert Parker 93 points Drink 2000-2020 " A Possible Legend Candidate. I believe the 1985 Lafleur is a far bigger wine than the 1985 Petrus. It possesses a tight but promising bouquet of ripe plums, black-cherries, minerals, tea, and spices. Deep ruby/purple, with an exceptional richness and depth of fruit, full body, and a powerful, long, tannic finish, this wine is completely closed, even monolithic and muted. It is evolving much more slowly than I predicted. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2020.--The Wine Advocate

(1) 750ml Château Cabrieres Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvee Louis Arnaud, 2000
(1) 750ml La Cuvee du Papet, Clos du Mont-Olivet 2000
Châteauneuf du Pape Les Quartz
'The brilliant 2000 Châteauneuf du Pape Les Quartz is more evolved as well as spicier than the floral, mineral, and black fruit-dominated 2001.
Full-bodied, with high glycerin, and a heady concoction of minerals, black raspberries, cherries, blackberries, and licorice, this layered, fruity, pure, well-balanced 2000 has a huge finish of nearly 50 seconds. It is a tour de force in winemaking.' 94 Points Robert Parker, Wine Advocate
The Wine Spectator
'Thanks to its beautiful polish this manages to beguile despite a powerful core of raspberry ganache, sweet toast, mineral, violet, mocha, tobacco and aged fruitcake. Long, juicy finish resonates with pure, dark, vivid fruit.
Beautiful.' Wine Spectator 95 Points

Domaine Pierre Usseglio Cuvee de mon Aieul, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 2000
The 2000 Châteauneuf du Pape (a blend of 75% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre, 10% Cinsault, and 5% Syrah) was aged in foudre for 15-18 months, and totally destemmed. It offers a deep ruby/purple color in addition to aromas of black currants, cherries, dried Provencal herbs, and licorice. Layered, sweet, accessible, and plump, this succulent effort was produced from the estate's younger vines (25-30 years). It should drink well for 10-15 years. 90 points. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate.

Clos du Mont-Olivet Châteauneuf du Pape la Cuvee du Papet 2000
A luxury cuvee. (a blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 20% mouvedre, all harvested late): Full ruby-red. Perfumed, liqueur-like aromas of red and black fruits, minerals, mocha and coffee; like a great Cote de Nuits red, but with the more roasted aspect of Châteauneuf. Silky, velvety and extremely suave; as ripe as this is, its medicinal and mineral components give it a distinct coolness. Thick but elegant. Finishes with huge but very fine tannins and compelling complexity and length. This will require considerable aging upon release. -94 points. Wine Enthusiast. Magazine
(The mourvedre in 2000 was particularly ripe, deeply colored and structured, notes Thierry.) Juicy and very long, with extremely fine tannins. A very classy Châteauneuf with exhilarating aromatic character. 93(+?) points.
Stephen Tanzer,
The 2000 Châteauneuf du Pape La Cuvee du Papet (only made in 1998, 1990, and 1989) boasts a dense plum/purple color as well as a sweet bouquet of balsam wood, dried herbs, black cherries, currants, plums, and figs. Full-bodied, powerful, and tannic, it is not a Châteauneuf du Pape for those wanting immediate gratification as it requires 3-5 years of cellaring. I am not convinced it is a profound as the 1998 or 1990, but it is a top-flight effort that should age for two decades. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2020. 92 Points. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

Lot 15 - (12) 750 ml Beringer Vineyards Chardonnay Sbragia, 2003
One of America's most Acclaimed Limited-Release Chardonnay's from Ed Sbragia. 92 Point rating from Robert Parker.
Huge, with more and more aromas and flavors that invite you back. Reminiscent of a lemony crème brulee, with a wonderful acidity holding everything up. The 2003 Chardonnay Sbragia Limited Release (2,000 cases) is surprisingly restrained and delicate for this cuvee. Medium to full-bodied, with copious quantities of buttered popcorn, pineapple, orange blossom, and melon characteristics as well as outstanding depth, purity, and balance, it will last for 2-3 years. Robert Parker 92 points (Feb 2005)
Wine maker notes from Ed Sbragia: The vineyards Ed Sbragia customarily chooses to use in his Private Reserve Chardonnay are located around the town of Yountville where daytime temperatures slowly climb as the cooling morning fog recedes south to the San Pablo Bay. One vineyard, Gamble Ranch, consistently provides flavors that Sbragia calls ?unctuous" and in 2003, he decided that this fruit would be ideal for his 2003 Sbragia Limited Release Chardonnay. As harvest approached, Ed and his winemaking partner, Laurie Hook, worked to identify the blocks with the most pristine clusters and delayed picking until they were sure the vines had packed every aroma and flavor nuance possible into the
After the grapes were gently destemmed and crushed, Ed aged each lot separately in new French oak, pairing subtleties he wanted to highlight in them with characteristics he has learned to expect in the different barrels. Malolactic fermentation and weekly lees stirring encouraged the creamy richness already evident in the juice and helped the oak aromas and flavors to be well integrated. The wine was aged for 10 months.

Lot 16 (12) .750ml Caymus Conundrum 2005 and (1) .750ml Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon, 1991.
2005 Conundrum Wine Tasting Notes:
In the end, they had the broad palette they wanted for this wine: aromas of apricot, white peach and honeysuckle; flavors of citrus, green melon, pear and vanilla; a creamy, mouth-filling texture; and a crisp, refreshing citrus end-note. They chose to bottle Conundrum with a twist-top closure that is as untraditional, and perhaps as adventurous, as their wine. Caymus believes this twist top is the perfect tool to protect the fresh, fruity, bright flavors they worked to achieve in their vineyard and in their winery.
To join the Caymus Conundrum, one of California's most eclectic blended white wines, we have added a bottle of the stunning Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon, 1991 vintage.
You'll find why the 1991 Cabernet from Chuck Wagner's extraordinary vineyard was one of the stars of a fine vintage. It is drinking perfectly now and will for another two years.

Lot 19 - (6) 750 ml Ridge Monte Bello. The Vintage Standard for the 2000 Vintage.
Always considered One of California's Top Wines, the 2000 vintage is their host acclaimed vintage since 1997 in 2000 Vintage. It is a Meritage of extraordinary depth and drinkability.
23% Merlot; 2% Cabernet Franc. Young Montebello Cabernets are rarely if ever the picture of polish, but, in this vintage, Ridge has come up with a wonderfully refined working whose brilliant cassis and cherryish fruit is carefully infused with rich oak and graced with highlights of chocolate and sweet loam. Striking in its depth, but that much more remarkable insofar as its compelling range and richness comes with a mere 13.5% alcohol, it makes comparison with the finest wines of Bordeaux unavoidable, and its stylish, neatly balanced stance points the way to handsome maturity in five or six years. It is unique among the bevy of more bombastic and highly ripened wines that join it in the "Hundred Dollars Club", and, for us, it sets a standard for the vintage that will difficult to equal. 96 Points. Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines, Aug 03.
Saturated ruby-red. Aromas of redcurrant, wild strawberry, cocoa powder and mocha. Dense, lush and seamless; very sweet and full for a Monte Bello despite the bright acidity. Finishes sweet and rich but bright and firm. This is 13.6% alcohol, unusually high for this wine, and today one sees the wine's baby fat more than its underlying backbone. Rated: 92-94. (1) Joseph Phelps Insignia Proprietary Red Wine, Napa, 2000
Joseph Phelps Insignia 750ml 2003:
With the release of the 1974 Insignia in the spring of 1978, Joseph Phelps Vineyards became the first California winery to produce a blend of the traditional Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot grape varieties of Bordeaux under a proprietary label. Considered innovative at the time, the Insignia name was selected to represent the finest available production in each vintage year, and became the first proprietary wine of California to place blending above either varietal or vineyard designation as a determinant of quality. It would not be followed until a decade later by the second such wine, Opus One, and Insignia has remained the benchmark of this category for over a quarter century.
Insignia is an opulent wine of concentration, complexity and structure, with a superb balance of finely tuned acidity and dense, velvety tannins. Cassis, liquorices and spice are abundant on the palate, with notes of eucalyptus and earth. The finish is sweet, elegant and extended.
Rating
The 2003 Insignia (15,000 cases) performed much better this year than last, when I tasted it right after bottling. A blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot and the rest Malbec and Merlot, it offers up attractive aromas of licorice, black currants, espresso roast, and background toasty oak. Full-bodied, opulent, and rich with outstanding depth, purity, and harmony, sweet tannin, and a long finish, it is approachable now, but will easily last for 20 years. Robert Parker, Wine Advocate 94 points (Feb 2005)
Joseph Phelps Insignia Proprietary Red Wine, Napa, 2002 . Wine Spectator's Wine of the year, 2005:
The finest effort made in this century, is a blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot, and 1% Malbec. It's dense purple color is accompanied by a fragrant perfume of espresso roast, Asain spices, crème de cassis, smoke, and minerals. Dense, voluptuous, full-bodied, rich, long, and harmonious, it can be enjoyed now or cellared for 2-3 decades.
Robert Parker 96 points.
Not surprisingly, this year's Insignia again takes its accustomed place near the head of its class. The Joseph Phelps Insignia, 2002 was the #1 WINE OF THE YEAR WINE SPECTATOR 2005. A rich, polished, seductive style with layers of complexity built around a dense, concentrated mix of currant, blackberry, plum and exotic mocha and cedar scented oak. This mouthcoating young wine is powerful, yet elegant and deftly balanced, finishing with a long, succulent aftertaste. 12,000 cases made. 96 Points Wine Spectator
Joseph Phelps Insignia Proprietary Red Blend, 2001. Robert Parker 95 Points:
"Rich, elegant, and nuanced, this dense ... wine offers a nose of crème de cassis, incense, licorice, chocolate, and spice box. It is full-bodied, opulently styled with plenty of tannin, but the structural aspects of the wine are well-concealed by its intensity and richness." 95 points. Wine Advocate
Joseph Phelps Insignia Proprietary Red Blend, 2000:
The 2000 Insignia reveals a smoky, rich cassis characteristic, medium to full body, and an open-knit, lush, generous style without the austere backwardness of the 1999. Expansive, fleshy and seductive, it should drink well for 15?16 years. (90?92) Wine Spectator. 90 Points Wine Advocate's Robert Parker (Aug 2002)

Lot 28 - (12) 750 ml Juslyn 1999 Vineyard Select Cabernet Sauvignon. An Emerging Cult Wine Juslyn Vineyards Cabernet from 1999 Vintage. One of only 80 cases produced.
Robert Parker says Juslyn makes one of the finest wines on Howell Mountain.
When British ex-patriots Perry and Carolyn Butler moved to California in 1982, they never dreamed they would own 42 acres of prime vineyard land in the heart of Napa Valley. They arrived in California as high-tech pioneers and founded their own computer company in the San Francisco Bay area. After routine 80-hour work weeks, the couple relaxed during weekend trips to Napa Valley, where they were bitten by the wine bug. Dreams of high-tech dominance soon turned to thoughts of returning to the land and grape growing.
In 1997, their dream became a reality when Perry and Carolyn sold their computer business and founded Juslyn Vineyards on a site overlooking the renowned Spring Mountain Winery. (The name, Juslyn, is derived from the names, Justine-the Butlers' daughter-and Carolyn.) In 1998, they made their first vintage of Juslyn from grapes purchased from Andy Beckstoffer as they waited patiently for their own vines to mature. Their patience paid in 2000, when they were able to harvest their estate for the first time to produce 80 cases of Spring Mountain cabernet sauvignon.
Since then, there has been no turning back. Perry and Carolyn have committed to making the best wine possible in the heart of Napa Valley's acclaimed Spring Mountain District. Having received 90+points from accredited publications like Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (December 2003) and Wine and Spirits Magazine (August 2004), the Butler's are proving that they are on the path of success and truly living the American dream.
"Sleek, smooth and focused, powerful but elegant, this wine shows vivid blackberry, plum, anise, sage, chocolate and spice flavors all couched in classy oak. Tannins are firm and fine, providing structure and finesse." 93 Points The Wine Enthusiast.
1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Vineyard Select:
An inconsistent vintage, especially in the mountain vineyards, is outstanding. Made primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon, it exhibits a dense ruby/purple color, firm, austere tannin (a characteristic of the vintage), and complex notes of tobacco leaf, cedar wood, black currants, and earth. Dense and medium to full-bodied, with outstanding purity, it admirably balances elegance with power. 93 points Robert Parker, Wine Advocate

First growth Bordeaux from fine vintage. In its’ original wooden box Château Mouton Rothschild Pauillac, 1999
"The beautiful 1999 Mouton Rothschild may be a modern day clone of their 1962 or 1985. Its saturated ruby/purple color is followed by sumptuous aromas of cedar wood, creme de cassis, wood smoke, coffee, and dried herbs.
The wine is forward, lush, and full-bodied. It is already complex as well as succulent, fleshy, and long. Tannin in the finish suggests more nuances will emerge in 4-5 years. It is a complex, classic Mouton. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2030. 93points Robert Parker RP"

Lot 35 - Château Cos d'Estournel, 1995 Magnum 1.5L
3 1.5 Liter Chateau Cos d'Estournel St. Estephe 1995
Robert Parker: 95 Points "A wine of extraordinary intensity and accessibility, the 1995 Cos d'Estournel is a sexier, more hedonistic offering than the muscular, backward 1996. Opulent, with forward aromatics (gobs of black fruits intermixed with toasty pain grille scents and a boatload of spice), this terrific Cos possesses remarkable intensity, full body, and layers of jammy fruit nicely framed by the wine's new oak. Because of low acidity and sweet tannin, the 1995 will be difficult to resist young, although it will age for 2-3 decades. Anticipated maturity: 2001-2025."

Lot 45 - (6) 750 ml Beringer Vineyards Chardonnay Sbragia, 2003
Wine maker notes from Ed Sbragia:
The vineyards Ed Sbragia customarily chooses to use in his Private Reserve Chardonnay are located around the town of Yountville where daytime temperatures slowly climb as the cooling morning fog recedes south to the San Pablo Bay.

Lot 48 One of the Finest 18 Château d Yquem Vintages in History.
(1) 750ml Château d Yquem Sauterne, 1er Cru Classé Supérieur 1970. Excellent color and fill level for 37-year-old Sauterne.
The 1970 Yquem is a large-scaled, rich, full-bodied, fairly alcoholic Yquem with significant flavor interest as well as crisp acidity. Unlike the 1971, which is close to peak maturity, this wine has a long way to go and is impressive, but not yet revealing all of its potential. 92 points. Robert Parker, Wine Advocate
The site has been home to a vineyard since at least 1711 when the estate became fully owned by Léon de Sauvage d'Yquem. In 1785 it passed to the Lur Saluces family when Françoise-Joséphine de Sauvage d'Yquem married Count Louis-Amédée de Lur Saluces, whose descendants ran the property for over 200 years. For most of the 20th century the Château was run by the Marquis Bernard de Lur Saluces who developed its status until his death in 1968.
Since 1996, Château d'Yquem has been owned by the French luxury goods giant LVMH, who bought the Château from the Comte Alexandre de Lur Saluces after a bitter family feud, although he was kept as the manager of the estate.
The Count was known for being particularly dedicated towards maintaining the level of quality which made Château d'Yquem famous, going so far as to reject an entire batch of the wine if he did not like the results of a randomised testing.
On average, only 65000 bottles are produced each year. In a poor vintage, the entire crop is deemed unworthy of bearing the Château's name; this happened 9 times in the 20th century (1910, 1915, 1930, 1951, 1952, 1964, 1972, 1974, 1992).

"An extremely powerful, super-concentrated wine offering notes of roasted espresso, crème de cassis, smoke, new saddle leather, graphite, and licorice. It is massive, with awesome concentration...and a saturated flavor profile...with considerable intensity." 96 points, Robert Parker, Wine Advocate
Bright ruby-red. Perfumed, sexy aromas of cassis, roasted plum, violet, pepper and exotic spices. Quite dry but densely packed, with pungent cassis, leather and mineral flavors complimented by sexy oak tones and a hint of dried herbs. Grew fuller and sweeter as it opened in the glass. Finishes with major tooth coating tannins that avoid dryness. Built for long aging. This tastes richer today than it did from barrel. (1) 750 ml Chateau la Lagune, 1982
Stunning examples of Chateau Lynch Bages and Chateau La Lagune, 1982. From impeccable storage conditions with extremely high fills. Bordeaux at its finest.
1982 Lynch Bages tasting Notes:
"This is another Lynch Bages that has never gone through an awkward, disjointed stage where it completely shut down. The color remains a dense ruby with some lightening at the edge. Thick, juicy, succulent notes of crème de cassis intermixed with dried herbs, vanillin, minerals, and anise leap from the glass. Fleshy and full-bodied, with the vintage's voluptuous texture and low acid, fruit/glycerin-dominated flavors well-displayed in its full-bodied personality, this wine tastes young, but is also ready to drink. Anticipated maturity: now-2015." Robert Parker (94 RP)
Extremely youthful ruby color, with a hint of garnet. Berry, currant and mint character, with an earth note. Full-bodied, extremely concentrated yet sweet and fruity, with fine tannins and a long, long finish. Inspirational; never considered classic by many people but its very great indeed.1982 Bordeaux. "Beautiful notes of dried herbs, new saddle leather, roasted nuts, black currants, and jammy cherries jump from the glass of this spicy, fragrant 1982. Medium to full-bodied and fleshy, it is the finest La Lagune produced in the last thirty years. Just reaching its plateau of maturity, it appears to have the balance and depth to age effortlessly for 10 more years." 93 Points, Robert Parker, Drink to 2015.

Stunning collection including three phenomenal vintages--1985, 1988 and 1989. The 1985 vintage was Wine Spectator's number 1 Wine in 1988 and rated 97 points. The 1988 Vintage was a 97-point Wine Spectator offering and the 1989 was rated "the finest Lynch Bages I have ever tasted," and 98 points by Robert Parker.
1985 Chateau Lynch Bages Pauillac
"Our wine of the year in 1988. Muscular but shapely, with fabulous toasted oak, berry and currant on the palate. It's full-bodied and has a long, long finish. This was the better of two bottles.--The Bordeaux 50. Best after 1997." WS (97 WS).
1988 Chateau Lynch Bages Pauillac. Wine Spectator 97 points.
Wine Spectator Review: "Powerful aromas of roasted fruit, smoke and toast change gears on the palate, which is as fresh and elegant as it is concentrated, with cherry, plum, tar and toast flavors. Firm tannins kick in on the finish, giving it good grip. Has the stuffing and balance to age for years." (WS 97)
1989 Chateau Lynch Bages Pauillac. Wine Spectator 98 Points.
Wine Spectator Review: "A wine with great mass; this is a complete fruit bomb, showing blueberry, cassis and mint flavors and tons of silky tannins. Truly amazing;..."...Opulent aromas of berries and hints of eucalyptus and fresh herbs. Full-bodied and very juicy, with big velvety tannins and a ripe long finish. Flavor plus..."...Dark-ruby in color, offering plenty of blackberry, mint and spice aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, with masses of velvety tannins and a superlong, fruity finish. Yet it's only giving half of what it's got; give it time. Perhaps the greatest Lynch-Bages ever produced.--1989 Bordeaux horizontal. Best after 2007."
Robert Parker Review: "I am going to crawl out on the proverbial limb and state that this is the finest Lynch Bages I have ever tasted. A mammoth wine, it is the arch-typical style of wine that this property can achieve. The color is an opaque dark ruby/purple and the nose reluctantly offers up aromas of grilled nuts, leather, cassis, and smoky oak. In the mouth, there is a roasted richness to the wine, extraordinary concentration and depth, as well as mind-boggling levels of sweet tannin. The impression in the mouth is one of blockbuster massiveness and power. This monster Lynch Bages is closest in style to the 1970, but given the more modern vinification techniques, it is a cleaner, more balanced wine with less of the hard tannins that many 1970s exhibit. The wine is just beginning to close up, so if you are going to sample a bottle do it soon. It will require at least 5-7 years of sleep before it emerges from its shell. This is a Lynch Bages to drink through the first two decades of the next century. A colossal wine!"

Lot 88 - (12) 750 ml Château Malescot Saint Exupery, 1998
Fine Margaux from the Top 1998 Vintage.
Château Malescot St. Exupery
A classic, this 1998 combines elegance with lovely textured, rich flavors of black cherries and currants, resulting in quintessential Bordeaux that is unlike any other wine produced in the world. The wine possesses an ethereal lightness, layers of fruit, and a diaphanous framework. More nuances appear with each sip. Tasters will find notes of blackberries, plums, currants, tar, spice box, and minerals. A beautifully etched wine, it will be at its finest between 2003-2017. 91 points. Lot 92 - Chateau Lafleur, 1992 Pomerol in miniscule production in 6-liter format
From arguably the most sought-after Pomerol producer next to Chateau Petrus, and at auction, surpassing Petrus in several vintages, comes a stunning six-liter bottle in its original case. One of 12 produced.
Château Lafleur, 1992 A noteworthy vintage for this tiny estate. The wine was ruby/garnet in color and amber at the edges. A powerful perfume of sweet ripe plums, black fruits, toast, wild flowers, herbs and caramel custard elevated from the glass. This had the best bouquet of the evening. The texture was soft and silky, a full bodied wine with layers of sweet flavors, rich ripe plums and red fruits sprinkled with Asian herbs. A long, rich, sweet finish. (Decanter 93 PTS).
